Capoeira Angola Quintal Indiana, Pennsylvania

Capoeira Angola Quintal headquarters is located in New York City under the instruction and guidance of Michael Goldstein, known in the capoeira world as Mestre Ombrinho. He began studying capoeira in 1981 in Califnornia.  Over the years, Mestre Ombrinho has traveled and lived in Brazil, training with many elder masters of the art such as Mestre Joao Pequeno, Mestre Joao Grande, Mestre Bobo, and Mestre Bigodinho.  In 1987, he became a disciple of Grand Master No of Bahia and joined Capoeira Angola Palmares. Mestre No, known as the master of masters, has produced the greatest quality and quantity of Capoeira Angola masters in Brazil. Ombrinho became a master in 1996 under Mestre No.  Mestre Ombrinho has been teaching in New York since 1988; and in 2002 he formed his own group, Capoeira Angola Quintal. 

Professor Graveto has been training and teaching capoeira in Ithaca, NY for almost 15 years.  He started his training under Instructor Rabo de Cavalo (a student of Mestre Ombrinho).  When Rabo de Cavalo left Ithaca, Graveto took over the group and has dedicated himself to the continuation of Capoeira Angola and it enriching the lives of all those it touches.  He has also trained directly with Grand Mestre No, Mestre Ombrinho, and other respected masters.  In 2006, Graveto was graduated to the rank of Professor. 

Under Graveto's guidance, several satellite groups have branched out from Ithaca including three groups in New York state, and one in Indiana, PA.

Giratorio (Casey Robertson), began training capoeira in 2001 under Professor Graveto.  In 2005, he began teaching a group at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania while attending college.  Additionally to teaching in Pennsylvania, Giratorio has taught classes in Ithaca, NY; Cornell University; and led workshop at CAQ headquarters in NYC. In 2010 he was promoted to the rank of Instructor.
